BCBS TX Urgent Care Guidelines

Before submitting a contract, ensure your Urgent Care Center (UCC) meets these essential requirements:

Extended Hours:

• Open on weekday evenings until at least 7:00 PM.
• Weekend hours are preferred but not mandatory.

Defibrillator:

• If not adjacent to an Emergency Room, a defibrillator must be on-site.

Tax ID Number:

• The UCC must have its own provider number and Tax ID.

UCC Summary:

• Complete and submit the Urgent Care Center Summary (Attachment C) with the application.

Billing Requirements:

• Bill professional services using the current CMS-1500 form.
• Institutional charges cannot be billed alongside UCC services.
